ROZHEN FOLKLORE FESTIVAL AND RODOPI MOUNTAIN
The Rhodopi mountain is an endless chain of rocks, hills, scattered between the slopes villages, it’s a magic for the eyes and a song for the soul. Following this inspiration the people of Rozhen are organizing a festival every second year. You are sure to get amazed and inspired with songs, dances and music, with the colour of the marvellous lovely national costumes. This festival has more than 100 years history. Here in 1961 rose the “miracle of Rozhen” – the folklore orchestra HUNDRED KABA BAG-PIPES. They accompanied the world famous song “Izlel e Deljo hajdutin”, which flied out in the space together with the music of Bach, Beethoven and Motzart looking for other civilizations.
10/08 - Day_1 : We meet you at Sofia airport and travel to Pamporovo and Rozhen. Of course on the way we make a short visit to Bachkovo Monastery. Still one of the most beautiful and second biggest monasteries /1083/, it is famous with the icon of Virgin Marry, considered to be miraculous. In the evening we arrive in the heart of Rhodopi mountain.

11 &12/08 - Day_2&3 : Free time to enjoy the magic of the Bulgarian Folklore, songs and dances on the Festival.

13/08 - Day_4 : After breakfast we take you to the beautiful village Shiroka Laka, famous with its autentic archetecture and folklore school. A short travelling to Jagodina cave, a three-level labyrinth of total length of 10km and is one of the deepest caves in Bulgaria. Archeological objects dating from the 4th and 5th centuries BC have also been discovered there.
Overnight is in Devin, a small picturesque mountain town, famous for spa treatment and hot mineral water springs.

14/08 - Day_5 : The road from Devin to Dospat is amazing with its scenic mountain views. Here among the slopes is hidden a small unique historical village – Kovachevitsa. We stop here for a coffee-break and let you feel its ambience. We proceed via Ognjanovo and appear at the foot of the highest Balkan mountain – Pirin. Dinner and overnight in Bansko.


15/08 - Day_6 : Free time or joining us for a walk among the coble streets of this historical town, the church and ethnographocal museum.
For lunch we organise a real mountain picknick. Dinner is in a cosy local life-music folklore restaurant /mehana/.

16/08 - Day_7 : Rila Monastery-Sofia
We head to Sofia via Blagoevgrad and on our way we visit the Rila Monastery - the biggest Monastery in Bulgaria, an UNESCO protected monument. Here most of the visitors can feel the energy around the grave of Ivan Rilski, the founder of the Monastery.
The day ends in Sofia with pleasant dinner and overnight.

17/08 - Day_8 : Day 8. After breakfast we make a half day sightseeing tour of Sofia, including “St. George and St. Sofia churches; Al.Nevski Cathedral with the golden domes and the unique Icon- collection in the Cript. Free time for the last purcheses, souvenirs, musea.
We make a farewell dinner and say good buy to our new friends :)

18/08 - Day_9
Our trips ends here , full of folklore music, magnificent nature sceneries, histories of Monasteries, energy from ancient places !
But … you are welcome to prolong your holiday with our special GoKotel programme / 7 days/ or on the Black sea coast with any of our summer hotels :)
