ORPHEUS AND THE TRACIAN MYTHS
Day_1 : We meet you at Sofia airport and start our journey to the first place of our magnificent tour - the second biggest town of Bulgaria - Plovdiv. Its old part, called the Old Town, with houses from the National Revival period (18-19th century), is an imposing open-air museum situated on the three hills of the ancient Trimontium. Of course here is welcoming dinner. Overnight in Plovdiv
Day_2 : This day we start with a walk throughout the old part of Plovdiv and we leave the ancient heritage of the Thracians and the Ancient Greek civilization come over us. In the afternoon - a visit to Backovo Monastery . The second largest Bulgarian monastery, the Bachkovo cloister, lies in the valley of the Chepelare river and is unique for its wall-paintings, which rank among the most valuable works of Orthodox art of the 11th -12th c. Don't miss the great opportunity for a 30 min walk up in the mountain to see the area Kluviata or the Thracian sanctuary Belintash.
Dinner and overnight are in village Manastir in typical Bulgarian house, where the original home-made Bulgarian meals will be accompanied by the music of the famous Rhodopi bag-pipe /gajda/

Day_3 : Visit the mystic complex Cross Forest (Krastova Gora), called by many people "the spiritual centre of Bulgaria". Surely it is one of the most significant Christian sanctuaries in Bulgaria and shares a peak /1416m/ with St.Trinity Monastery and a few chapels. We pass further the village of Momchilotsi, and proceed to the Kardzali Lake for dinner and overnight in a hotel just on the edge with magnificent panorama view over the lake.
Day_4 : We take you in ancient times of Thracians occult center Perperek ( gr - Perperikon) and the Dionysus sanctuary. The intensive excavation work started in 2000 and revealed a wealth of magnificent archaeological finds. Going down to the deepest prehistorical strata, the archaeologists unearthed beautiful pieces of late Bronze Age pottery and even earlier ceramic utensils and several stone axes from the Eneolithic Period. All around Perperikon, a network of thousands of winepresses basins and canals carried the sacred sap of Dionysus to burn on his altar or fill the goblets his honour. In the afternoon we visit the megalomaniac religious monument Tatul, which was recently discovered but quickly got famous as it is believed to be the grave place of Orpheus.
Tonight we overnight in the region of Smoljan, where every village is perched on the beautiful slopes of the Rhodopi Mountain.

Day_5 : The visit to the village of Solista will charm you with the Garden of Orpheus, where you can enjoy more than 150 species. For the mountain walkers we offer a pleasant 40 min walk to Shiroka Laka - an architectural-ethnographic preserve village, symbol of the Rhodopi culture and folklore. A special custom will show you how local ladies spin wool, dance and sing national folklore accompanied by pipe /gajda/ music. You will taste a home made sweets and herb tea. Overnight is in Devin, a small picturesque mountain town, famous for its hot mineral water springs.
Day_6 : Today is a day for the miracles of nature: Devil throat, Trigrad gorge, Jagodina cave
Yagodinska Cave represents a three-level labyrinth of total length of 10km and is one of the deepest caves in Bulgaria. Archeological objects dating from the 4th and 5th centuries BC have also been discovered there.
Trigradska River falls into the (Devil's Throat) - a magnificent cave, where, all along the 7000 metres, the water forms some 18 waterfalls and passing through the enormous Roaring Hall exits into the canyon. Just above the cave is the fascinating view of Trigrad Gordge - vertical marble rocks surrounding the river. The Trigrad Gorge is recognized as one of the 100 national tourist sights.
The trip goes along the Vacha Lake and ends in the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia

Day_7 : - This is Sofia - 7000 years history in the heart of the capital. There is plenty to see and to do in the city: The famous golded domes Cathedral "Alexander Nevski"and the Crypt, the National Assembly, St.Sofia church, Holy Synod, National Opera house, the Russian Church of Saint Nicholas, the Tzar Palace, housing the Ethnographical Museum, National Theatre, National Archeological museum, and much more … Of course some free time to walk around for little presents.
We make a pleasant farewell dinner and say good buy to our new friends :)
